1.3 Our Philosophy & Spirit:
“We strongly believe that every individual is a Leader in their own sphere of influence. We also believe that we have Solutions to our Problems when we remain united. Our spirit is that of Ubuntu “I am because we are".
Membership to MLK Foundation shall be open to any person of sound mind who is interested in helping the group to achieve its aim and willing to register and abide by its rules.
Interested member must meet the membership requirements and must be willing, reliable and committed to our objective, mission and vision throughout his membership duration.
Every registered member shall have one vote at general meetings and in elections.
The Membership Committee shall have the power to refuse membership to an applicant, where it is considered such membership would be detrimental to the aims, purposes or activities of the group.
The group shall not tolerate anyone involved in criminal acts eg theft, robbery, disorderly behavior, act of terrorism, drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
The group shall comprise 10 members and above at any given time.
All members must be willing to participate and be involved in projects and activities of the organization of their interest.
For running the office, the committee shall provide a budget to be approved by the members during the AGM.
Membership payments and renewals shall be for the running of the organization and its charitable activities in the community and are nonrefundable. All members are entitled to the benefits created by the opportunities.
Categories of Membership & Fees
Membership is based on a membership registration FEE and a Yearly renewal of the same amount.
The membership categories include:
1. MLK4Kids – This is within the age 5-12 and will have programs geared towards their leadership, mentorship and personal growth.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 200
2. MLK4Teens – This is within the age 12-17 and will have programs geared towards their leadership, mentorship and personal growth.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 300
3. MLK4Students – Comprises of students in Secondary, Universities and Colleges. Student Identity card is a must for this category.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 500
4. MLK4Youth – These are Youths of ages 18-35 and youth advocates above the age of 35 years.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 1,000
5. MLK4Seniors – These are of ages 35-59.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 1,500
6. MLK4Elders – These are for ages 59 and above.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 2,000
7. MLK4Organizations – These are youth serving organizations, CBOs, NGOs and other organizations willing to register and be part of the group. These organizations will always benefit from the events and opportunities created by the organization.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 3,000
8. MLK4Companies – Companies and corporates will enjoy the many opportunities we create both online and via our membership activities.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 5,000
9. MLK4Life – This is a membership category that does not include renewal of membership and its membership does not expire.
Membership FEE: Kshs. 10,000
The fees are subject to review from time to time with consultation from the
Table Banking Structure – This is optional for members who would like to invest some money to uplift their welfare. All investments are done via our partner Banks and Saccos.

For cooperate members, their logos and information will be shared on the MLK website.
Registration and termination of membership
Each member upon registration shall be issued with a membership card for identity which will have a yearly expiry date.
Membership cards will always act as a pass, and identify our members on membership benefits.
Upon resignation, the member should surrender the membership card to the office.
Any member may resign his/her membership and any representative of a member organisation or section may resign such position, by giving to the secretary of the association not less than one month written notice to that
Any materials, secrets, and issues related to the group are secrets of the group are should not be shared with non members. Members are prohibited from using social media or other channels to discuss matters about the organization.
The Membership Committee may, by resolution passed at a meeting thereof, terminate or suspend the membership of any member, if in its opinion his/her conduct is prejudicial to the interests and objects of the group, PROVIDED THAT the individual member or representative of the member organisation (as the case may be) shall have the right to be heard by the Committee before the final decision is made. There shall be a right of appeal to an independent arbitrator appointed by mutual
