'Narc Kenya Open To Forming Coalitions,' Party Leader Martha Karua Now Says
Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua now says she is open to forming political coalitions after consulting with the party’s hierarchy during a meeting in Laikipia County on Wednesday.
According to Karua, Narc Kenya will announce its coalition partners in due time after concluding talks with Mt. Kenya residents, who she says will play a considerable role in determining the path the political outfit will take ahead of the August general elections.
She was speaking in Nyahururu, Laikipia West sub-county, when she met the party’s area delegates, political aspirants and members.
“We are here to talk about the politics of the day and also about electing good leadership in six months. The decision must lie with the people as leadership even if you may think which side you want to gravitate to it is only fair to have consultations with the people before solidifying the voice of the people,” Karua said.
According to Karua, her entourage will continue holding similar meetings in all the counties of Mt. Kenya before making a final announcement on which political factions to side with.
“This is just one of the many meetings we will be having, we have already conducted meetings in four other counties in Meru, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Embu and we are on a journey to conduct such town halls in all counties of Mt. Kenya and later meetings so that we can be able to focus together and agree on a direction.
The Narc Kenya leader similarly urged Mt. Kenya leaders to call for unity in the region so that the area can vote as a bloc come the August 9 polls.
She also advised them to shun divisive politics while urging Kenyans to vote for individuals they feel will change their fortunes and not to elect leaders based on their political affiliations.
