Gladys Wanga Atieno Nyasuna - Governor

Gladys Wanga is a Kenyan politician and the current Member of Parliament in Homabay County in addition to being the women Representative there. She is an active and staunch member of the ODM political party known for her firm decisions and strength words in politics.

Education & Career: 

Education

Gladys Wanga started her education at Agha Khan Primary School in Kisumu and later joined Kisumu Girls. She passed well, she joined Kenyatta University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts. She then furthered her education in 2012 in the same university pursuing a Master’s of Science in Health Management.

Career

Her political interest sparked as a child which led to her being the first female to be elected as the Secretary General in Kenyatta University in the year 2003. She was an active member of the Students Union and after graduation, she started working for Liverpool VCT center. She then worked for Trust for African Rock of Art and Later on, she joined the ODM political party while still working for Liverpool VCT center. In 2013, she was elected as a Member of Parliament in Homabay. She became the women representative in 2017 for Homabay County. During her reign, she has advocated for women and youth empowerment as well as education for the girls.

Personal Life - Family, Marriage:

She was born on 7^th March 1981 in Homabay County.

Family

Gladys is the third born in a family of seven children. Her father was a counselor and chairperson of Kisumu County Council. Her father was her inspiration who made her develop interest in politics.

She is happily married to George Wanga and the have two kids. They separated for a while before they declared that they were back together and are currently still in marriage.
