Susan Mokeira Momanyi was born and raised in Mathare Village 2. The first of five children, she attended Old Mathare Primary School and later joined Muslim Girls Secondary School for her O Levels. Upon completing high school, she took short courses in Reproductive Health, volunteering with NGOs such as Marie Stopes, Family Health Options Kenya, NCCK and Pathfinder International as a community health worker. Due to her outstanding community mobilization skills, she received a scholarship to attend the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology where she took a Diploma in Community Development course, graduating in 2015.
