Richard Ngatia: Nairobi Gubernatorial Hopeful on Spot for Allegedly Deserting Crowds He Ferried to His Event

Hundreds of people believed to be supporters of Richard Ngatia were spotted stranded at St. Andrew's Chapel, State House Road on Thursday evening.

This is after businessman and aspiring Nairobi governor allegedly ferried them from as far as Nakuru to attend his political event.

The aggrieved crowd confessed that Ngatia promised each of them KSh 5,000 as a facilitation allowance.

According to them, they were ferried to boost the attendance of Ngatia's function so as to create an impression that he is popular among his competitors in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

However, they were left helpless after the event. They called on well-wishers to bail them out as they had no fare to make it to their homes.

"We were told that we would be handed KSh 5,000. We came and graced Fred Ngatia's event after he asked us to do so. Right now we have no fare to return to our homes, we call on any well-wisher to get us out of this place," said one.

However, University and college students in Nairobi have come out in defence of Ngatia over the allegations.

Led by University of Nairobi's Eric Owino, the students termed the reports as malicious and were being peddled by Ngatia's competitors to dent his repute ahead of the oncoming city's gubernatorial contest.
