Raila Odinga Will Surpass William Ruto's Popularity in Mt Kenya By April, Francis Atwoli

Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU-K) secretary-general Francis Atwoli has predicted that Raila Odinga's popularity in the Mt Kenya region will overtake Deputy President William Ruto's.

Various pollsters have shown Ruto to be the preferred candidate in Mt Kenya region, albeit there is a growing surge in Raila's popularity, which Atwoli says will culminate in him leading by April.

Speaking to TV47, the outspoken COTU boss stated that according to a reliable survey done in the region, the two frontrunners for the presidency were in a neck to neck battle for the populous region's votes.

"According to reliable sources and surveys, Raila and Ruto are in a neck-neck battle for votes in Mt Kenya region. And by April this year when you call me for an interview, I will tell you Raila is ahead of Ruto. It's just a matter of time," stated Atwoli.

Atwoli further castigated Ruto for declaring himself the region's kingpin without the people's authority.

He said that nobody had the right to boast about being a region's spokesperson and that every leader going to the area must seek their permission.

"It is not true that he is the most popular in Mt Kenya region. Every region in Kenya has its voters and if you want their votes you must talk to them. You can not chest-thump that you are the kingpin of a region and their mouthpiece without their authority."
