Raila Outsmarted Uhuru Kenyatta for Handshake to Happen, Gathoni Wamuchomba

Kiambu woman representative Gathoni Wamuchomba has claimed that ODM leader Raila Odinga was too smart politically to be easily handled by President Uhuru Kenyatta. 

According to Wa Muchomba, the March 2018 handshake between Uhuru and Raila was a decoy by the president to give in to the ODM leader's political astuteness. 

However, as the truce was still in the works, the president moved to his allies in the Mt Kenya region, whom he told his partnership with Raila was only about peace and not the 2022 succession politics. 

The first-term lawmaker now says it has come to her realisation, and that of her ilk, that Uhuru lied about his deal with the former prime minister. 

According to her, the deal was about his succession, arguing that the president seeks to prolong his presence in the government under the guise of a Raila Odinga presidency. 

"Raila Odinga was too smart to outdo President Uhuru Kenyatta in any political process. He had to look for Raila. He lied to us that their deal was about peace and the country's economic development, but that is not what we are seeing. We can conclude that the president lied to us," said Wamuchomba in a presser. 

The lawmaker, who is allied to Deputy President William Ruto, added that the president could be using Raila to have his (Uhuru's) agenda and interests taken care of even after the lapse of his term.
