Lee Kinyanjui Shreds Ruto for Welcoming ANC, Rejecting Mt Kenya Parties: "Others Are More Equal"

Hardly a day after Deputy President William Ruto announced a working relationship with Amani National Congress's(ANC) Musalia Mudavadi, Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui has accused Ruto of political bias.

The first-term governor highlighted that political parties from the Mt Kenya region were being forced to dissolve as a requirement to join the DP's outfit.

In a post on Facebook, Kinyanjui stated that parties from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region were being asked to fold their parties before joining the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), failure to which they are ridiculed as being tribal units and non-entities.

"When people from Mt Kenya come in their parties to join the yellow team, they are asked to fold up their parties. They are labelled tribal units, village parties and non-entities," read the post.

Kinyanjui accused Ruto of belittling the region for welcoming Mudavadi and leaders from other parts of the country as equal principals in UDA ahead of leaders from Mt Kenya.

"When leaders from other parts of the country join the yellow team in their parties, they are labelled principals and ushered to the high table," said Kinyanjui.

He added that Ruto could not claim to be fair if he sees the Mt Kenya region as an after-thought in his political plans.

"Surely, they claim we are all equal….but as we have seen, others are more equal. The greatest freedom is the freedom from self-deceit," added Kinyanjui.
