Ahmednasir Jittery Supreme Court Could Reverse Judgements Quashing BBI

Constitutional lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has expressed worry that the Supreme Court will reverse judgments quashing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Taking to his official Twitter handle on Tuesday, February 8, the revered lawyer said the court was likely to give a favorable ruling to its proponents.

"I predict the Supreme Court will in the BBI case deliver a favourable judgement to my beloved Jubilee," Ahmednasir wrote.

After delivering the judgment, he said that the court would give parliament the go-ahead to amend the constitution and create more executive offices.

"The court will toss out the basic structure doctrine and give parliament greenlight to urgently amend the constitution and create the offices of the prime minister, two deputy prime ministers among others. Azimio's needs must be met," said the lawyer.

The seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court that was hearing the BBI appeal petition has since retired to make its final decision following submissions.

The three-day hearing in January 2022 saw lawyers on both sides put up spirited arguments over the petition, which has elicited a lot of public interest.

All eyes will be on the Chief Justice Martha Koome-led bench when they render their verdict to end the BBI reggae or revive it.
