Breaking News: 27, May 2020 - Latest Kenya Covid-19 Cases and Updates

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Wednesday 27, May 2020 reported 123 new cases of Covid-19 out of the 3,077 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours bringing the national tally to 1,471.

This is the largest number of positive cases recorded since the first case on March.

Distribution of the new cases is as follows: Nairobi 85, Mombasa 24, and Kiambu 4.

In Nairobi, 33 Mathare residents were recorded as positive.

Three more people have died of Covid-19, raising the number to 55.

The travellers to Kisumu for a burial have all tested positive. He further says that 35 hospitals have experienced the cases with for on ventilator support.

Kagwe appealed to Kenyans to volunteer for mass testing in order to help in the fight against COVID-19.

"When testing is happening, kindly volunteer yourself...," Kagwe said.

"People die alone... so it is important to protect yourself."

He also informed the press that community contacts have been the major cause of the intensive spread.

He encouraged the people of Kenya to take precautionary measures to minimize the spread of the virus. He asked the people to respond to the rules with self-conscience sic all the communities have accessed the virus.

The Ministry of Health informed the press that people with compromising illnesses suffer the most and are prone to death. He quoted the president’s speech on the need for people to abide by the rules.
