The Ministry of Health announced on a press briefing the confirmation of 181 people positive for Coronavirus disease, out of 2,131 samples tested bringing to 8,067 the countries caseload of those confirmed positive. Thus the Cumulative samples tested stood at 191,394. Of the 181 cases,179 were Kenyans, while 2 were foreigners with the gender division being 123 males and 58 females.  The youngest was a four-month-old infant, while the oldest was 79 years.

The county distribution were highlighted as: Nairobi 134, Kiambu 19, Mombasa 9, Kajiado 6, Machakos 6, Lamu 3, Murang’ a 2, Uasin Gishu 1, and Kirinyaga 1. The subcounty analysis were outlined as:Nairobi cases are from; Dagoretti North 21, Embakasi East 21, Embakasi South 16, Westlands 11, Starehe 9, Mathare 8, Roysambu 8, Langata 6, Embakasi Central 5, Embakasi West 5, Kasarani 5, Makadara 5, Kibra 4, Dagoretti South 3, Embakasi North 3, Kamukunji 3, & Ruaraka 1. In Kiambu, the 19 cases are in, Thika (7), Limuru (3), Ruiru (3), Kabete (2), Kiambu Town (2), Juja (1), and Kikuyu (1).  In Mombasa, the 9 cases are in; Jomvu (3), Kisauni (2), Mvita (2), Likoni (1), and Nyali (1). 

Four more patients have succumbed to the deadly virus bringing the number of fatalities to 164. Ideally, 127 more have been discharged from hospitals bringing the tally for recoveries to 2,414.

Earlier, President Uhuru lifted the cessation of movement ban into and out of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Mandera counties.

Addressing the nation from Harambee House, the head of state said the ban will come to an end at 4 am, Tuesday.

“I order and direct that the cessation of movement into and out of the Nairobi Metropolitan area, Mombasa County and Mandera County shall lapse at 4 am tomorrow,” he said.

He further noted that the phased reopening of the economy would be solely dependent on the people and warned netizens that should they go back to their old habits and the state of COVID-19 deteriorates, then we will have revert to lockdown.
