Detectives have launched a serious manhunt for over 20 Kenya Revenue Authority staff in Mombasa County who decided to hide soon after their colleagues were arrested in offices on Monday 13th May 2019.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives raided the KRA Mombasa offices on Tuesday for further investigation on tax evasion.
A number of staff attached to KRA Nyeri offices and various border points have also not reported to work in order to avoid possible arrests.
A detective privy to the investigation said the hiding staff may be charged with an extra count in court unlike their counterparts who accepted to be arrested.
“Currently various raids are being conducted in houses that detectives believe belong to the suspects,” said the source, adding that the raids had been carried on in Nyali and Bamburi estates.
A total of 100 KRA staff are being investigated for various offences as others have been arraigned in court.
