Nyeri Deputy Governor Caroline Karugu Conveys Late Mom's Message to William Ruto:

Nyeri deputy governor Caroline Karugu shared with mourners details of a message from her late mother.

Karugu who eulogised Jacinta Wanjiku as a gracious woman told guests that the late mother was conscious of political happenings in the country.

In particular, Karugu recalled one day when her mother gave her a message to deliver to Deputy President William Ruto. She had raised her concerns about a Ruto presidency.

During the mother-daughter conversation that lasted hours, she first sought to know if Kurugu was close with Ruto before she asked her to go tell him that he should shelve his presidential ambition.

“My mother had a message for Ruto. Tell him it is not yet his turn, it's Baba’s turn. You're still young, your age allows you to vie again and succeed. He can wait for five or ten years. Call Ruto, is he your friend? Give him the same message. It is Raila's time, this peace we enjoy, this democracy, he fought for it," she told mourners.

The governor used the opportunity to rally Nyeri county residents and the Mt Kenya region behind the Azimio La Umoja which she noted had the best interest and aspirations for the country.

'When we say we support Azimio La Umoja it is because it is an umbrella that Baba has opened for all of us… All we are trying to do with Azimio La Umoja is to give everybody room and space," she added.
