Nzioka Waita: Uhuru's Chief of Staff to Resign on February 9, Join Machakos Gubernatorial Race

President Uhuru Kenyatta's Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita has said he will resign on February 9.

Nzioka is among the aspirants who are seeking to succeed Machakos governor Alfred Mutua.

"I will work until February 9 at 5pm as it is the norm. I will see the head of public service, and I will hand over what needs to be handed over to him," Nzioka said.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Tuesday, February 1, Nzioka said he would also make a farewell call to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ask for his blessings and support.

"I will also thank the head of state for the privilege of allowing me to work for the people of Kenya and to be in his service and for earning my trust to work for him for the past seven years," he said.

However, Nzioka expressed confidence that he would clinch the seat despite having no political experience.

"I have no political experience because I am an administrator. I have fixed problems for a leading corporation(Safaricom) for 15 years and it remains the leading corporation in the country. I have fixed problems for my president and for my country. I continue to do so. It is now time to go and fix problems for my people," Nzioka explained.

He observed that Machakos county does not need politicians since it has one senator, one woman representative, 60 MCAs and eight MPs.

"I just need to go and look for money for my people, make sure they get the services that they need and make sure they have the best county in Kenya," he explained.
