Joseph Boinett: Former Police Boss Resigns from State Job to Vie for Elgeyo Marakwet Gubernatorial Race

Former inspector general of police Joseph Boinett has resigned from a government job to vie for the Elgeyo Marakwet gubernatorial seat. 

On Thursday, February 3, Boinett resigned as the Tourism chief administrative secretary to concentrate on politics. 

Bonett announced after leading a team of officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) who appeared before a parliamentary committee. 

"Today's appearance in parliament marks the end of my tour of duty as a Chief Administrative Secretary because immediately after this I am going to tender my resignation as a chief administrative secretary because I intend to head to Elgeyo Marakwet to vie for the position of governor," Boinett told journalists outside parliament buildings. 

He also took the opportunity to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for having appointed him to the positions. 

"I thank the president for appointing me first as the inspector general of police between 2015 and 2019 and once again appointing me to another senior position as the chief administrative secretary," said Boinett. 

Boinett expressed gratitude to the head of state, saying that he was happy having served Kenyans n the two positions.

"I do not take that confidence in vain, I do not take it for granted and therefore I must say that I am very grateful for that opportunity to serve the great people of Kenya in those two senior positions," he added.
