Gloves Off: Uhuru Kenyatta Declares Time for Politics Has Come, Set to Take On Ruto

Jubilee Party, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, has announced it will not be fielding a presidential candidate in the coming August 8 General Election.

The announcement was made on Friday, February 4, after the head of state chaired a meeting attended by governors, senators, MPs, MCAs, and party officials at State House.

Uhuru made the announcement in a statement published on Jubilee Party's Twitter handle, saying the party was elected in 2017 to serve Kenyans and not engage in premature campaigns.

"We have been working, sasa wakati wa siasa umefika," said Uhuru

The party will, however, embark on a strategic and aggressive campaign that will ensure it emerges as the majority party at the COG, National assembly, Senate, and in over 30 county assemblies.

“If anyone asks you where Jubilee has been in the near past, just tell them we had gone to work to serve Kenyans,” Uhuru told those who attended the meeting at State House
