Charles Keter Differs with Ruto, Says Handshake Didn't Affect Govt Operations

The immediate former Energy Cabinet secretary Charles Keter has lifted the lid on the post-handshake relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Keter who resigned on Tuesday, February 8, clarified that March 9, 2018, handshake did not affect the government operations contrary to the belief that the arrangement stalled the Jubilee agenda.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Tuesday, February 15, the former Kericho senator explained the handshake was between Uhuru and Raila, and it did not affect the government business.

"The handshake was between the president and Raila Odinga and it never affected how we worked in Cabinet. It was only the two. The only part of the information I got when I was a CS is when the DP said he was privy to the handshake," he stated.

Keter also dismissed claims by politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto that there were no regular Cabinet meetings after Uhuru and Raila agreed to end dissent and work together.
