Ida Odinga: "Don't Attend Rallies of Aspirants You Dislike to Cause Chaos"

Ida Odinga has urged Kenyans to maintain peace during the current campaign period and after the August 9, General Election.

Speaking in Kimana Kajiado county on Monday, March 21, Ida said political violence has been claiming many lives of young people and challenged the youth to play part in averting unnecessary confrontations in the name of political differences.

"We don't want our children to die because of elections. We do not want conflict in this year's General Election," Ida said.

She also called on political leaders to lead in perpetuating a peaceful elections atmosphere by avoiding divisive and hateful utterances during their hunting of votes.

Ida was categorical that politicians' obligation was to sell their manifesto, not inciting their supporters against those of contrary opinion.

The former teacher and Opposition leader Raila Odinga's wife urged Kenyans to listen carefully to every contestant's manifestos and stay away from campaigns of those they dislike.

Ida spoke while launching Wamama na Raila initiative in the county, aimed at mobilising support for the Azimio la Umoja presidential aspirant.

She said if Raila is elected president, she will work closely with his administration to ensure women empowerment policies are implemented to uplift their status across the country.
