Nakuru County Assembly Deserted as over 70 MCAs Get into Campaign Activities

As the August 9 General Election nears, aspiring political leaders are putting their best foot forward to entice voters ahead of August polls.

The politicians are making sure that they use every chance they get to campaign for themselves.

In Nakuru county, the county assembly was deserted on Tuesday, March 22, after all, 78 members of the assembly hit the campaign trail.

The county assembly is mandated to make laws that are necessary for the effective performance of the county government.

The MCAs also exercise oversight over the county executive committee and other county executive organs.

The assembly also receives and approves plans and policies for the management and exploitation of the county’s resources and the development and management of its infrastructure and institutions.

County assemblies are expected to conduct oversight over the county executive.

This means that all these have stopped in Nakuru county because their MCAs are busy campaigning ahead of the August elections.
