Robert Alai Withdraws from Nyando Parliamentary Race to Vie for Kileleshwa MCA Seat

Kenya's renowned blogger Robert Alai Onyango has withdrawn from the Nyando parliamentary seat ahead of the August 9, 2022, General Election.

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, Alai said he would be vying for the Kileleshwa MCA seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.

Alai cited a lack of adequate resources as one of the reasons why he bolted out of the parliamentary race.

"Most of us newcomers in elective politics are faced with a lack of adequate resources unlike our competitors who have the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) at their disposal," Alai said.

He also said he researched and found it wise to vie for the Kileleshwa MCA seat.

"I have lived in Kileleshwa for the past four years. And after my research, I realised that there is a gap in the leadership of the ward. That is why I have declared interest to fill that particular gap," Alai explained.

If elected, Alai told TUKO.co.ke that he would ensure that he addressed the challenges soberly affecting the residents.

Previously, Alai was keen on unseating Nyando MP Jared Okello through the ODM party primaries.
