Wangui Ngirici Silently Joins Jubilee after Ditching William Ruto's UDA Party

Kirinyaga woman representative Wangui Ngirici will now seek the county's governorship on the Jubilee Party ticket.

Earlier, speculation was rife regarding the politician's next moves after political overtures were reportedly made to her by the ruling party.

On the basis of anonymity, a senior Jubilee Party official sitting at the National Executive Council confirmed to this writer Ngirici's latest move, by design bringing to a halt the hearsay spread on social media.

The official who could not delve much into the matter affirmed that the first timer in parliament would be flying the ruling party's ticket in the Kirinyaga governor's race.

Efforts to reach out to Ngirici for a comment regarding the development gave in to futility.

Ngirici was initially determined to go for the seat as an independent candidate, facing off with the incumbent and UDA's Anne Waiguru, who has the backing of the deputy president.

Before Waiguru's entry to UDA in October 2021, the lawmaker was a known Ruto ally and was assured of a direct ticket.

The tables, however, turned to the detriment of the lawmaker after the deputy president openly manifested his soft spot for Waiguru.

Also in the race for the governorship is Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua who recently joined forces with ODM boss Raila Odinga.

Ngirici joining Jubilee tends to alter the matrix of the race given that Karua, an aspirant, is a member of the Azimio la Umoja bandwagon, to which the ruling party is also a pioneer outfit.
