William Ruto Responds to Charity Ngilu's Stinging Online Criticism

For the first time, Deputy President William Ruto has hit out at Kitui governor Charity Ngilu over her incessant social media attacks.

The county boss has been on record savagely criticising the deputy president, whom she always accused of being a corrupt individual and also sabotaging his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While referring to him as "huyu mtu" in her criticisms, Ngilu has been linking Ruto to the governance malpractices and vices such as corruption, which has fleeced Kenya millions of shillings, cautioning Kenyans against electing him as their president.

"William Ruto cannot help our country, let him first show us what he has done for the past nine years of being the deputy president. Let him show us even one factory that he has established for all those years. Ruto needs to refocus and help President Uhuru Kenyatta deliver the promises they both made to Kenyans. His engagement in 2022 sideshows with his lieutenants within government only serves to derail government programs," she told a forum in 2021.

Answering back for the first time, Ruto wondered how the county boss balances her duties and the vitriol she continually spew on social media against him.

He asked Ngilu to cease attacking him on social media and instead focus the energy on serving her constituents.

Ruto was in Kitui on Tuesday, March 29, for his presidential campaign.
