Wakati wa Mama: ODM Gives Gladys Wanga Direct Ticket to Vie for Homa Bay Governor's Seat

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has handed Gladys Wanga a direct ticket to vie for the Homa Bay governor's seat. 

ODM party leader Raila Odinga said an agreement had been reached to hand Wanga the nomination ticket as a way of consensus. 

Raila said the move was reached following a meeting of all party Homa Bay gubernatorial aspirants in the August polls held today, Thursday, March 31, in Nairobi. 

"They invited us as party officials to have a consultation with them and at the end of the day, an agreement has been reached by way of consensus that out of the seven contestants they all agree to step down and back Wanga as the party candidate in this particular race," Raila explained.

Raila said that the aspirants had also nominated Wanga's running mate in the same spirit.

"They have equally settled on Oyugi Magwanga as her running mate. The party has of course taken note and agreed and issued a certificate to Wanga," said Raila. 

Raila termed the development a voluntary exercise maintaining that ODM rules provide consensus-building, nomination by delegates or members and direct nomination by the party.
