Ledama Ole Kina on Receiving End after Claiming KSh 6k Monthly Stipend Will Create Wealth

Narok County senator Ledama Ole Kina has elicited a host of reactions online after a Twitter post in which he praises presidential aspirant Raila Odinga's KSh 6,000 monthly stipend.

According to him, the figure has been criticised by many because they do not look at what it can do from an entrepreneurial perspective.

While sharing photos of a lawn being maintained, he explained that if the KSh 6,000 a month is accumulated, an individual can save enough to start a mowing business.

"With KSh 6,000 a month and a statement showing KSh 72,000 a year on social program support, I could buy a lawnmower and start a landscaping company and create wealth," he wrote.

His sentiments, however, did not seem to go down well with some of the social media users who opined that the picture being painted is not true.

@MumbiMbui: "There are watchmen who earn KSh 5,000 a month. This is will definitely lead to gross unproductivity. Consequently, tax-paying and hard-working Kenyans will have to dig deep into their pockets to carry the rest.

@irdafrica_Kenya: "We want a zero deposit, zero interest rate asset leasing to own financing from @MyGovKe. I buy a peanut roaster plus butter mill to add value to my grandmother's peanuts and sell it to the supermarkets under the seven-day Settlements Act. There are no lawns to mow in Mathare."

@shobanes: "You mean we start small with motorbikes, come to the middle and open landscaping companies, then build wealth when we get to the top?"
