Governor Lee Kinyanjui Dumps His Ubuntu Party

Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui has dumped his Ubuntu Peoples Forum (UPF) party, and he will now seek re-election on a Jubilee ticket.

This, he said, would enable him to consolidate the Azimio La Umoja coalition support base and lead the campaign team in the region.

"I, therefore, wish to state that I will defend my seat as Nakuru governor on the Jubilee ticket. This decision has been made in full consultation with top leadership and members of the Ubuntu Peoples Forum-UPF Party," Kinyanjui posted on his official Facebook page.

He said that in the meantime, the UPF Party would field and support its candidates in respective positions in line with its mandate.

Kinyanjui further said that the party will be unveiling the candidates under Azimio La Umoja after the nominations and will strive to have only one candidate for each seat from MP to the governor.

"We are aware this decision is inconvenient for some supporters and opponents. Kindly accept our sincere apology," said Kinyanjui.
