NPS to Pursue Rowdy Youths Who Stoned ODM Leader's Chopper, Motorcade in Uasin Gishu

The inspector general of police Hillary Mutyambai has instructed the Rift Valley regional police commander to take action on rowdy youth who stoned Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga's chopper and convoy in Uasin Gishu county.

In a statement released through the National Police Service's official social media handles, Mutyambai said all those implicated in the violence would be arrested and charged.

The incident occurred when Raila visited the family of the late Uasin tycoon Mzee Jackson Kibor to condole with them after his death.

"Organised rowdy youths stoned the helicopter and vehicles ferrying him and his entourage. As a result, Peace was breached, lives were put in danger, and the said helicopter and vehicles in the entourage were damaged.

"Quick action by police officers on duty at the scene averted what would have been a spree of destruction and attacks resulting in serious injuries including a threat to lives," NPS said.

NPS asked Kenyans to tolerate all political leaders regardless of their affiliations, insisting that acts of violence targeting opponents shall not be condoned.
