Escalating Rift in ODM as Migori Woman Rep Pamela Odhiambo Holds Parallel Rally to Party's Event

Cracks have started rocking ODM party barely a day after it officially commenced the nomination exercise to pick candidates who will fly its flag in the August 9 General Election

In Migori, the rift was evident as supporters of gubernatorial aspirants clashed at a rally held by the party at Posta grounds on Friday, April 1.

Supporters of Migori Senator Ochillo Ayacko and his counterpart, Woman Representative Pamela Odhiambo, booed each other forcing the rally to end prematurely.

Odhiambo is said to have organised her own rally where she brought elders from Suna East, Suna West and Nyatike constituencies to endorse her bid at Kababu Livestock market, five kilometres from Migori Town.

The Women Rep later stormed the Posta grounds rally during the turn of Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina to address residents.

"I can't talk when Mama is coming to the podium. Let her through please," Ole Kina said when Odhiambo's supporters insisted she should be allowed to the podium.

But as Odhiambo's supporters tried to carry her up to the podium, Ayacko's backers booed and heckled her forcing Ledema to cut short his speech.

"Let the DJ play the music as these people calm down here. She has managed to reach the podium, we will let her talk," Ole Kina, who was visibly agitated was forced at one time to speak angrily in Maa language.

The senator cautioned those fighting over party tickets to have a bigger picture of what their action would do to the entire ODM image ahead of the 2022 General Election.
