Kipchumba Murkomen Accuses Uhuru of Double Standards

President Uhuru Kenyatta has condemned the stoning of ODM leader Raila Odinga's chopper and later his motorcade by a section of rowdy Soy youths on Friday, April 1.

In the incident, the Opposition leader was forced to take another helicopter after his own was pelted with stones after the burial of affluent Uasin Gishu farmer Jackson Kibor at his Kabenes farm.

Speaking on Sunday, April 3, Uhuru questioned why anyone would vandalise Raila's chopper further adding that if he could have been hurt, the nation would have burned down.

"Sasa Kuenda kule kupiga ndege ya baba, ndege ya baba imekufanya nini? Kama hio jiwe ingepiga huyo mzee, si huyo ni moto ungewaka katika taifa la Kenya (Now why would you stone Raila's chopper? What has it done to you? If that stone would have hit Raila, this country would have been set ablaze)," said Uhuru while speaking in Pipeline.

However, Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen accused Uhuru of double standards claiming the head of state has never condemned violence meted on his deputy William Ruto.

Murkomen said the Jubilee Party leader never said anything when the second in command's team was attacked during the Kibra by-election.

"When Ruto's team was attacked in Kibera, President Uhuru said it’s okay for politicians to be stoned. When DP was attacked in Kenol and Embakasi he was silent. When DP was stoned in Kondele he ordered police to blame it on campaign money," lamented Murkomen.

The outspoken lawmaker suggested that the president might be cheering violence against his deputy whom they no longer see eye to eye.
