Kileleshwa Residents Invite MCA Aspirants For Interviews

Residents of Nairobi's leafy suburb Kileleshwa ward are resolute in electing the best Member of County Assembly (MCA) in the forthcoming August 9 General Election.

Through the Kileleshwa Ward Neighbourhood Association (KIWANA), the residents have since invited all the candidates eyeing the seat for interviews to vet their suitability.

According to a letter dated April 2, the meeting will be held at Kileleshwa Covenant Community Church on Saturday, April 9.

"The purpose of the meeting will be to give the opportunity for the community to meet the aspirants and for you to introduce yourself and explain what you plan to do for Kileleshwa if elected," read the letter in part.

During the meeting, there will be brief scrutiny of the curriculum vitae of the aspirants including their academic qualifications. The contenders were, in turn, asked to mail their documents before the fateful day.

Also, the MCA candidates will be vetted to ascertain whether they meet the integrity criteria set out in Chapter 6 of the Constitution. With that in mind, they will be required to explain how they plan to fight corruption if elected.

The meeting will also provide an opportunity for the ward residents to find out the aspirants' understanding of the national values and principles of governance as set out in Article 10, Chapter 2 of the Cosntitution.

After the session, there will be a follow-up meeting with successful aspirants after the nominations.

The convenor of the meeting who talked to this publication confirmed that a number of aspirants had already confirmed their attendance at the meeting.
