Suna West MP Chased Away after Accusing Locals of Illiteracy

Efforts by MP Peter Masara to address Suna West residents, who he represents, became futile after they embarked on jeering.

Masara had graced Migori gubernatorial seat aspirant Philip Mwabe's mega rally at Migori Primary School where the latter officially declared his bid.

However, the Monday, April 4, event took a dramatic turn after Masara, who had made his remarks, was tasked with inviting his arch-rival Joseph Obiero Ndiege to the stage.

Ndiege's supporters seemingly took issue with the protocol. They started booing and chanting his name.

Ndiege is the immediate former Suna West MP and is competing for the seat with the incumbent Masara.

As the booing escalated, Masara lost his cool and told the crowd that they were not learned.

"Those boys do not understand English that's why they are making noise," said Masara.

The lawmaker's utterances provoked the crowd further. The rowdy youths started shouting and singing anti-Masara songs.

They threw bottles where the lawmaker was forcing him to end his speech prematurely.

The mayhem got out of hand forcing Masara to scamper to his safety. He was guarded in order to access his vehicle.
