Musalia Mudavadi Says He'll Accept Poll Results if Raila Beats Ruto

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has said he will concede defeat if Azimio presidential aspirant Raila Odinga beats Deputy President William Ruto in August 9 polls.

Speaking in an interview with KBC radio on Tuesday, April 5, Mudavadi said Kenya is a democratic nation and leaders ought to respect the choice of the people.

"If the people of Kenya decide to elect Raila Odinga as their president in the August 2022 General Election, I will not have a problem. We are in a democratic country,'' said Mudavadi.

Mudavadi reiterated the need for peace during the campaign period, urging leaders to desist from hate speech, abuse and violence.

"We want peaceful campaigns this time. Leaders should stop hate speech, shun divisive politics and stick to selling their agenda to Kenyans," he urged.

Mudavadi's call comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta urged Kenyans to be tolerant and maintain peace during and after the 2022 General Election.

Uhuru was responding to an incident where rowdy youth in Iten, Uasin Gishu County attacked ODM leader Raila Odinga and pelted his chopper with stones.
