Governor Moses Lenolkulal Drops Senatorial Bid

Samburu governor Moses Lenolkulal has shelved his senatorial ambitions in favour of joining Deputy President William Ruto's campaign team in the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

Lenolkulal, who had set his sights on the Samburu senatorial seat dropped his bid in favour of incumbent Steve Lelegwe who is vying on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.

In a statement made by Ruto on Tuesday, April 5 as he welcomed the county boss into his team, Ruto said Lenolkulal has graciously dropped his bid and joined the Kenya Kwanza presidential campaign team.

"We welcome Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal to the Kenya Kwanza presidential campaign team. He has graciously vacated his senatorial aspiration for Steve Lelegwe who will be defending his Samburu seat in the August 9 General Election," the DP wrote on Twitter.

The DP lauded his latest acquisition into the presidential campaign team stating that he brings a wealth of experience to their ranks.

"I want to say, Moses Lenolkulal brings a wealth of experience and expertise into the presidential campaign team and the Kenya Kwanza fraternity," said the second in command.

On his part, Lenolkulal promised to deliver all the votes from Samburu to Ruto, stating that he fully supported Ruto's presidential bid.

"We've had an extensive discussion and reached a mutual ground and am ready to fully support him in his presidential ambition to work toward delivering Samburu. God willing we will have to deliver effectively," said Lenolkulal.

Lenolkulal will be working alongside Turkana governor Josephat Nanok who heads Ruto's campaign secretariat.
