Mvita MP Aspirant Survives Assassination Attempt

Mvita MP aspirant Ali Mwatsahu survived an attempt on his life after shooters opened fire on his car.

On Tuesday. April 6, Mwatsahu was heading home from the mosque when his assailants opened fire on his car along the Tudor area.

Mwatsau's vehicle was reportedly shot 24 times by the shooters in two vehicles who hid around the scene.

He sustained gunshot wounds on his arms and legs and was rushed to a Mombasa hospital for treatment by a tuk-tuk motorist who was close by.

The family said upon realising he was not dead; the assailants tried pursuing the politician to the hospital before turning back.

"Ali aliposhuka akachukuwa tuk-tuk akawaa ywajileta hospital mwenyewe zikajua hajakufa wakamfukuza mpaka hapa hospital. Kumaanisha hichi kisasi cha endelea na Ali hana usalama(He took a tuk-tuk to the hospital and they realised he was not dead. They pursued him to the hospital before turning back on getting the commotion. Meaning they will still try killing him and Ali is not safe)," narrated his wife.

Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Hassan Omar who was with the family at the hospital through the ordeal said Mwatsahu believes his attack to be political.

He said Mwatsahu informed him while going in and out of consciousness that it was all because of a political rivalry.
