Murang'a Senatorial Aspirant in War of Words with MP Alice Wahome

A few days ago, Kandara MP Alice Wahome announced that musician Hellen Kigia Mwangi had pulled out of the senatorial race for Murang'a county.

The declaration indicates Hellen, popularly known for her hit song Ngwanìrìra, had chosen to throw her weight behind one of her competitors.

"They have agreed to leave it to Joe Nyùtù. Hellen has seen how the run has been and decided to step down from UDA party," Alice said on Inooro TV.

The former teacher and principal of Thare Primary School, who is vying on the Farmers Party has, however, come out guns blazing to deny the claims.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke's Hillary Lisimba, Hellen noted that Wahome called her on March 24 and requested her to withdraw.

"Alice offered me the nomination for the MCA in return, adding that I could also be the deputy governor for UDA but I turned down the offer," she stated.

She added that the proposal did not make sense because there were some delay tactics in tabling their case before the governor until the registration deadline elapsed.

Hellen says that no sooner had they had any discussion on the way forward than the MP stood on TV to say the musician had withdrawn.
