Rift Valley Police Boss George Natembeya resigns to focus on Trans Nzoia gubernatorial race.

After 25 years of service in the security docket since 1996 and two and a half years as the Rift Valley regional commissioner, George Natembeya has finally ended his journey in the docket after resigning on Wednesday, January 12, 2021 to focus fully on his 2022 gubernatorial bid. To resign from public service before contesting for an elective position is a requirement by law.

Natembeya, who seemed contented with his service over the past years, in his resignation speech took the chance to recount on his journey as the Rift Valley regional commissioner. "I am letting go of this police uniform and duties. I won’t be seen in it unless under extraordinary circumstances," he said. The commissioner  is seeking to unseat the current Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba in this year’s general election.

He also noted that he will use his vast experience in the national government to serve the people of Trans Nzoia. However, he has not come out clearly about the political party he will identify himself with.
