Alfred Keter Declares He's In William Ruto's UDA Outfit Months after He was Heckled in Nandi Read more: https://www.tuko

Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter has clarified that he is still in Deputy President William Ruto's camp.

This is is despite the lawmaker's strong political stances that have been seen as dissenting from the deputy president.

Speaking to Chamgei FM on Thursday, January 20, the legislator said he has never had any personal differences with the deputy president besides their divergent political views.

“We only differ on ideologies. My only problem is that I only speak my mind. I’m firmly in UDA and I’m here to stay," said Keter.

Nevertheless, Keter observed that the deputy president was being surrounded by selfish leaders from the region who he said have been advancing discord for their own expediency.

He called for a free and fair exercise during the UDA party primaries, noting that an unfair exercise will instigate a walkout on the outfit as the presumed strong candidates have the option of going for the seats as independent candidates.

"Let the voice of the people prevail. Many people want us out of UDA but we are here to stay. Tutapambana papa hapa (We will take on each other here),” said Keter.

This comes a few months after Keter was treated with hostility when he attended Ruto's rally in Kapsabet.

While in the company of Nandi governor Stephen Sang', Keter could not address the rally as Ruto's supporters jeered at him over his stance against the deputy president.

Addressing the press later, the youthful politician said he regretted having attended the rally held on Wednesday, November 24

Keter, who is serving his second term wished he could have avoided the event.

“I saw the mood and realised that those people (leaders) had already set the motion for my humiliation early enough.
