Maina Kamanda Officially Declares Interest in Nairobi Senatorial Seat: "Still in Active Politics"

Jubilee nominated Member of Parliament, Maina Kamanda, has officially declared interest in the Nairobi senatorial seat.

Kamanda, a former MP for Starehe constituency in Nairobi county, said he was still active in politics.

Speaking on Kameme TV, Kamanda said he is not planning to retire from active politics, and he is ready to serve the people of Nairobi at a more advanced level as their senator.

Kamanda, a close ally of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, said the demand informed his decision to run for the Senate seat.

"I have been listening to the people of Nairobi. You cannot say I'm old to lead the people of Nairobi, yet they are telling me to lead them in the Senate," Kamanda said.

He also asked the Deputy President William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to get ready for defeat in Nairobi, noting that the Azimio la Umoja team will take all political seats in the county.

"Nobody is thinking about Ruto in Nairobi. UDA will not get any political seat in all the 17 constituencies within Nairobi. This is because we have made a plan on how we will win the seats," he said.
