ODM to Pay Nomination Fees for First-Time Women Eyeing MP Seats

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced plans to pay nomination fees for first-time women eyeing MP seats.

In a statement, ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna said the Orange party had secured funding for the "HE for SHE" programme.

"The secretary-general as patron of the ODM women league's "HE for SHE" programme is pleased to announce that his office has secured funding to support several female aspirants seeking to vie for Member of National Assembly in any of the 290 constituencies"

Sifuna said that those vying for the woman representative's seats would not be included in the programme.

"This is geared towards ensuring the realisation of the two-thirds gender rule in the National Assembly after the August elections," said Sifuna.

The funding shall be applied by paying ODM life membership fees for those selected to the programme and payment of party nomination fees at the primary level.

Those eligible for the programme must be women, members of ODM, and contesting as a member of the National Assembly in any of the 290 constituencies.
