Raila Odinga Would Beat William Ruto in Nairobi if Presidential Elections Were Held Today, Poll

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is Nairobi's best presidential candidate for the August 9 General Election, a new poll has shown.

Mizani Africa polled Raila against Deputy President William Ruto, former vice presidents Musalia Muadavadi(ANC) and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and others in their latest survey.

According to the poll, a section of Nairobi residents was asked whom they would vote for as Kenya's president if a presidential contest among the politicians was to be held on Friday, January 21.

In the poll, Raila who is making a fifth stab at the elusive presidency got 42.1 %. He would be the only candidate above the 40% mark.

The deputy president presumably flying the United Democratic Alliance flag came second with 31.4 %, followed by Mudavadi and Kalonzo at third and fourth with 3.4 % and 2.5 % respectively.

A section of respondents making up to 3.4 % said they would consider other candidates, not in the above list.

Interestingly, 18.3 % of Nairobi residents were yet to decide by the time the opinion poll was conducted.

The development came barely two weeks after Raila strengthened his campaign team with 11 more political think tanks.
