Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry President Richard Ngatia's entrance into the race has shifted the scales into a three-horse race.

According to Mizani Africa opinion poll, Ngatia would easily beat his closest competitors to the city's gubernatorial seat if elections were held today, Friday, January 21.

Ngatia, allied to Raila Odinga's Azimio la Umoja, would garner 29.2% of the votes cast by Nairobi's electorate.

Bishop Margret Wanjiru closely followed him with 24.9%, and Westlands' sitting MP would come a distant third with 19.1%.

The incumbent, Anne Kananu, comes at eighth position in the survey with a meager 2.1% in the popularity index.

The survey has Nairobi's senator Johnson Sakaja coming in fourth with 10%, while embattled former governor Mike Sonko got 5.8%.

Entrepreneur Agnes Kagure who recently launched her candidature, got 4.2% of the respondents in favor of her being the next county chief.

Seasoned city politician George Aladwa got 3.0%, Chege Fresh with 0.8%, and others got 1.0%, meaning the race could tip anyway in favor of the frontrunners.
