Moses Wetang'ula's Ford Kenya Resolves to Partner with UDA in August 9 Election
Moses Wetang'ula's Ford Kenya Resolves to Partner with UDA in August 9 Election
Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang'ula has rallied his troops behind Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Wetang'ula on Tuesday, January 25, presided over a parliamentary group meeting at the party headquarters where the politicians made resolutions.
One of the resolutions according to the party secretary-general Chris Wamalwa touched on the August 9 general election and whether or not the party will field a presidential candidate.
Addressing media, the Kiminini lawmaker hinted Wetang'ula had bolted out of the presidential race and would now partner with Ruto's UDA party and other like-minded politicians.
"Today we had a meeting of Ford Kenya parliamentary group. We have endorsed resolutions made that Ford Kenya is going to be in partnership with ANC, UDA and other like-minded parties. This is a partnership that will go to the State House," he stated.
Ruto formally reached out to Wetang'ula and Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi for 2022 pre-coalition talks in late December 2021.
UDA secretary-general Veronica Maina confirmed the duo had been invited for talks ahead of the August 9 General Election.
Maina said the revamped outfit was awaiting a response from the two former NASA leaders who were allied to former prime minister Raila Odinga in the 2013 and 2017 polls.
