Wangui Ngirici Takes Swipe at Opponents:

Kirinyaga woman representative Wangui Ngirici has taken a swipe at Governor Anne Waiguru over the devolved unit's gubernatorial race.

Ngirici took an issue with remarks attributed to Waiguru in which she urged Kirinyaga residents not to follow briefcase parties but stick with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Taking to social media on Thursday, February 10, the aspiring governor laughed off Waiguru's comments saying no political party is supreme to the other.

"No political party is superior at the office of the Registrar of Political Parties. Independent candidates shall equally enjoy the same stature and right at the ballot box. The briefcase parties remarks were uncalled for," she stated.

In an apparent reference to the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal in which Waiguru was adversely mentioned, Ngirici emphasised that even an "NYS party" can be registered if it meets the constitutional requirements.
