ODM Takes Top Spot as Kenya's Most Preferred Political Party, UDA Comes Second in New Poll

Deputy President William Ruto and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) team will have to go back to the drawing if the opinion poll by Mizani Africa is anything to go by.

The survey which was made public on Friday, January 21, showed a majority of Kenyans would prefer Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over Ruto-affiliated UDA if elections were held today.

The respondents were asked to name a political party or an outfit they would prefer if the General Election was to be held today, Friday, January 21.

Out of those polled, 46.3% chose Raila's ODM party, UDA had 34.6 % while Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) attracted 6.1 %.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's newly-formed Chama Cha Kazi which was registered a few months ago got 5.6%, Jubilee 4.4 % and others 3 %.

The poll offered a sharp contrast to a similar one which was carried out and released by Infotrak on Monday, December 27, 2020.

It showed UDA and ODM maintained momentum as the most preferred parties for the 2022 General Election at 30% and 16%, respectively.

The survey that was conducted between December 17 and 22 among 1,600 respondents, showed 32% of those preferring UDA were female, while 34% were male, most of whom were within the 18-24 age bracket.

Of those who prefer Raila led-ODM, 25% were female while 38% were male, and a majority of them were in the 36-45 age bracket.
