Governor Fernandes Barasa Pledges On Food Security

  • Work with KARLO, Bukura Agricultureal College and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology to improve on our agriculture and diversify farming to commercializa new and adaptable breeds in crops, livestock and fisheries.
  • Give farmers incentives to increase yield and value by developing agro-industrial zones and reducing post-harvest losses through commodity exchanges.
  • Shall recruit, train, engage, equip and distribute extension officers to every Community area in the County.
  • We shall initiate and support farmer co-operatives to form and engage in guaranteed contract farming for export market
    markets by giving farmers forward contracts in the commodities market.
  • Invest in value addition and agro-industires supported by a strong distribution system.
  • Enhance access to farm inouts like tractors, seed and fertilizers and subsidized services like A.I
  • Provide incentives for the establishemtn of a Diary Processing Plan with value addition in other milk products.
