Transforming Health Care provision

A healthy community is a strong community

In the next five years, my Government shall:

  • Ensure Mandera County Referral Hospital operates optimally with all key departments fully operational.
  • Ensure the County’s patient referral system operates efficiently and effectively, and is fully resourced.
  • Ensure every location has access to a fully equipped health center with a clinical officer and other qualified health personnel.
  • Ensure all hospitals and health centers are adequately staffed, equipped and supplied with essential drugs and medicine.
  • Decentralize health care management to sub-county and build the management capacities of health care workers.
  • Incentivize health care workers through timely promotions, training and improved work environment.
  • In consultation with County health management, introduce targeted recruitment of health workers to address capacity gaps.
  • Introduce affordable Universal Health Care scheme to improve access to quality health services for our County residents.
  • Ensure that primary health care provisions across the county are of high standards.
  • Partner with KEMRI to provide regular training for health care staff to address new diseases.
  • Invest in maternal, newborn and child health services.
  • Provide comprehensive health care cover for county employees
