Governor Julius Malombe Promises for Women, Youth and PWDs Commitments

Scouting and nurturing of local talents in various fields (athletics, football, acting, music, modelling, drawing and painting)

• Construction of one modern stadium in Kitui and Mwingi towns in collaboration with the national government

• Installation of better facilities for public play grounds serving sub-counties and wards (public dais, changing rooms, sitting terraces, lighting, water points, toilets)

• Upgrading of public play grounds in each village (levelling, fencing, erecting goal posts, public toilets, hand wash water points, shades etc.)

• Support and facilitate at least one self-help group in each sub-county in the formation of cooperatives in key economic sectors (bodaboda, taxi/ probox, tailoring, livestock trading, weaving, fruit farmers, poultry farmers, food vendors, hire of events tents, chairs, tables, public address system, bee keepers and honey processors, vegetable vendors, salonists, hawkers, car wash, shoe shiners, mechanics, hotels and restaurants, bar owners, social welfare associations)

• Support of PWDs to register with the national council for persons with disabilities (NCPWD) and with the National Treasury to enable their 5% Access to Government Procurement Opportunity (AGPO)

• Reservation of 30% of the County’s budgeted annual procurement opportunities for AGPO (women, youth and PWDs)

• Rehabilitation and counseling centers starting with appropriate infrastructure/facilities and personnel in the level (v) hospitals
