ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE CREDIT

  • Increase Cooperative Revolving & Enterprise Fund, to increase access to affordable start-up capital and working capital for businesses
  • Review and streamline current funding mechanism and programme to ensure efficiency and greater impact
  • Activate and operationalize the ‘hustler fund’ in collaboration with the national government to increase access to affordable finance through SACCOs and organized groups
  • Negotiate with partners with development partners and financial services sector to scale affordable access to credit to businesses and farmers.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

  • Facilitate establishment of business advisory services to offer business training and support.
  • Facilitate business incubation and acceleration support services.
  • Hold annual business forum Facilitate business linkages to increase business opportunities and markets.
  • Set up a one stop ‘portal’ to provide relevant information and convenient services to businesses

STRENGTHEN ENABLING ENVIRONMENT FOR BUSINESS

  • Build two modern markets in Laikipia with appropriate amenities like cold rooms
  • Provide Street lighting and parking areas, especially in existing and emerging market/ urban centers by tapping not renewable energy to reduce the cost of electricity for businesses.
  • Review, consolidate, simplify, and rationalize all licensing and business approvals to reduce cost of doing business in Laikipia.
  • Facilitate weekly trading streets in major urban areas in Laikipia to increase opportunities for business to show case their products and services.
  • Fast track payment of any pending payments to contractors and suppliers doing business with county government.
  • Facilitate and incentivize growth of key industries in agriculture, livestock and manufacturing sectors by setting agro-processing plants for e.g. dairy, tannery, red meat.

ICT AND AUTOMATION

  • ICT and automation
  • Train and mentor young people on how to leverage on their tech savvy skills to tap business opportunities.
  • Provide internet connectivity in constituency youth innovation centers.
  • Establish linkages with national level youth ICT tech businesses to train youth from Laikipia on how to monetize their tech savvy skills.
  • Identify youth with talents from Mashinani and nurture them.

SPORTS AND CREATIVE

  • Prioritize improvement of sports and recreation facilities.
  • County government to provide incentive to private sectors to invest in sports and recreation.
  • Incentivize the creative industry to identify talents in creatives and sports.
  • Invest in TVETS and schools as sports grounds.
  • Mashinani Development Model shall create room for youth to engage in government and prioritization and resource allocation of youth programmes.
  • Facilitate structured youth engagement platforms to increase the voice of the excluded.
  • Develop a youth leadership development training.
  • Convene governor’s youth conference and promote facilitation of the youth from the grassroots.

YOUTH INCLUSION AND PARTICIPATION YOUTH AND ADOLESCENT HEALTH

  • Support rehabilitation of youth from substance abuse.
  • Train CHWs on mental health and facilitate them to provide psychosocial support.
  • Revamp health centers and make them youth friendly and ease access to information.
