Governor Wavinya Ndeti Promises On Social-Economic Empowerment

SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT

My Vision on social empowerment in Machakos County is improved livelihoods by ensuring equitable social welfare and economic prosperity My Commitment on Social Empowerment is to:

  • Promote access to quality education at all levels
  • Empower the youth as guided by the following levels(tiers)

 

Primary Level Young Mothers

  • Support young mothers through the establishment of Day-Care Centers attended to by county nurses and nutritionists
  • Provide Adequate ECD infrastructure, subsidized ECD services and feeding program.
  • These measures will enable mothers to attend to some other productive aspects of their lives

Post- Primary Level

  • Audit all primary schools in the county to establish the progression of each child
  • Establish village level bursary committees
  • Establish the Machakos Governors' Fund to support exceptionally needy cases
  • Provide Sponsorships for internships 
  • Establish a Revolving Fund to support education at University or TVETlevels
  • Support establishment of incubation centers (within institutions such as Machakos University) that can support
  • Post-Form Fours in small businesses 
  • Create a database of skills in various vocations available in Machakos County
  • Partner with the Government of China to train the youth on skills that may be required during theirConstruction activities and in such ventures as Konza Technocity
  • Establish and support Talent Academies and support youth sporting events to nurture talent and grow  them to internationally accepted standards
  • Link the youth with grant providers such as Tony Elumelu Foundation to secure small scale enterprise startup funds Support Boda Boda Youth by getting TVETs accredited by NTSA to give them Motor cycle Driving Licenses
  • Work with relevant institutions to procure certification of skills
  • Provide social safety net for the vulnerable groups in the community 
  • Ensure that the people of Machakos have access to clean water and a habitable environment
  • Preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Machakos County while at the same time seeking to make economic gain for the people out of this culture and heritage
  • Deploy tourism as an avenue for employment creation in Machakos County through such initiatives as promotion of Medical Tourism and the promotion of tourist attraction points such as Komarock Shrine ? and the reverse gravitational pull at Kyamwilu.
  • Promote access to affordable housing through Public Private Partnerships Invest in the welfare of the employees of Machakos County through training, housing and on job-support among others
  • Provide universal and affordable healthcare for all Machakos residents as a basic right by ensuring that each sub-county has a fully functional level 4 hospital with ICU, HDU, surgical theatres, dialysis, maternity and laboratories
