Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif Pledges On Transforming Education

Expanding and improving education access & quality

Investing in our children’s future

ECDE

  • Adequately invest in the infrastructure, learning and teaching resources for early childhood education. 
  • In consultation with parents and other stakeholders, consider the possibility of integrating DUKSI education into County managed ECDE centers.
  • Initiate and implement feeding programme for pupils in early childhood education. 
  • Employ ECD teachers and managers, and separate the management of ECDE centers from primary schools.
  • Promote health education in our schools, such as de- worming school children and improving sanitation.
  • In partnership with the MOE and TSC, recruit up to 1,000 qualified youth for schoolbased teacher training programmes to address teacher shortages in primary and secondary schools.
  • In partnership with NG-CDF and development partners, establish/ equip one secondary school according to National School standards in every constituency.
  • Subsidize parents’ contributions to boarding school fees for 10,000 students to a maximum of Sh20,000 per student.

Primary & Secondary Education

  • Decentralize education bursary allocation to improve fairness and reduce double allocation.
  • Seek partnership between County and National Government, Development Partners and NG-CDF to improve school infrastructure and capacity building of teachers and schools’ boards of management

Technical colleges & adult literacy

  • Launch a countywide adult literacy and continuing education programme to empower communities to play their role in our county’s political, social and economic development. 
  • Invest in technical colleges’ Infrastructure, equipment and expansion of courses.
