Governor Abdullswamad Promises Solving public Transport Challenges

In response to growing concerns over the state's public transportation system, Governor Abdullswamad made a significant announcement promising to tackle the existing challenges and bring about comprehensive solutions. The public transport system had been plagued by issues such as inadequate infrastructure, unreliable services, overcrowding, and limited accessibility, causing inconvenience and frustration among the citizens. Posted on his official twitter account quoted here:

"STRATEGIZING ON URBAN MOBILITY FOR MOMBASA 45% of Mombasa's residents walk to get to their destinations while a further 36% rely on public means of transport. As a County Government, we have to give good thought to solving the challenges of mass public transport.

Wider roads do not necessarily lead to less traffic; my government is focussed on developing Sustainable solutions to ease urban mobility. I met with the @ITDPAfrica when they paid me a working visit at my office.

We discussed plans around implementing functioning traffic signals, pedestrian walkways, cycle tracks and a bus rapid transport system.

My goal is to work with KENHA and KURA to secure appropriate infrastructure to provide our people with clean, safe and reliable transport to eliminate the menace of traffic jams."
